In a bid to cut a huge chunk of the revenue, the Turkish government has announced plans to boost the price of its erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.
The move follows another government move last year to increase the price of Viagra to 20 per cent, a move that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it hoped will help the drug's sales growth.
The increase, announced this week in the wake of reports of counterfeit erectile dysfunction drugs being sold in the US, was aimed at keeping Viagra out of pharmacies as far away as India.
The price of Viagra, marketed as a remedy to treat impotence in men, is set to increase by 20 per cent from the previous target of 40 per cent to 80 per cent by the end of the year.
